My two vintage dressmaking patterns have arrived from here and here. (Yes I did finally decide to buy the other pattern I was deliberating over).

I'm feeling pretty nervous now though. I've never actually made an item of clothing, especially not one I might actually want to wear...

We all start somewhere, a little practice, maybe you could by some cheap calico and make a dress as a test and then you could make second one in the material you want.

I can't wait to hear how it goes. I'm going to get started on my dress this weekend, I think...if nothing gets in my way.
I agree with Liss: use something cheap to start with, that way you can see if you need to modify anything before you cut into the good stuff.
